Membership and Zoom booking

  • Become a member of the National Historical Association (see their website). If you want to be on the Zoom list then you need to send Rob your name and email address at least 24 hours before the event.
  • Become a member of the Bristol Historical Association for £10 for 2021-2022 (see below). Once you have done this Rob will put you on the Zoom list for the whole year. We may have to continue with ZOOM for the autumn. We hope to go back to live events thereafter.
  • If you are not sure if you have paid your membership for 2021-2022, please contact Rob.

A Contact the Treasurer with your name and address so that he can post you a membership card.


B Pay £10 to our account through a bank transfer. Please put your name on the transfer.

A word about ZOOM.

We use a waiting room to admit people to our zoom events. Rob looks at the names and admits people one by one. He compares the names of participants with his list of people who have signed up for zoom. Please use FULL NAMES.

To speed things up please ensure that the name on your screen matches the name on his list.

How do I change my name on Zoom before joining a meeting?

Using the Zoom app on a computer (laptop/desktop)

Click on the blue “Join a Meeting” button. — Enter the Meeting ID number in the first section. Enter your full name in the second section.

If you are a University of Bristol student please put UoB next to your names. If you are a school or sixth form college student please put the name of your college or school next to your name.

For some lectures there may be over a hundred participants. Rob has about 30 minutes between 7pm and 7.30 pm to do the admissions. If you arrive late it may be difficult to admit you.
